Yes! I defintley agree, Chimchar IS the best starter pokemon diamond/pearl. If you want my opinion for the rest of the region starters, Id say Mudkip is the best in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, Squirtle is the best in all the Kanto region games, and I guess Chikorita is the best in the johto region games. I have a Swampert in all the hoenn region games(I have ruby/sapphire/emerald version)and I have a Blastiose in firered version. Though I dont have any johto region games, I can just by opinion think that Chikorita is the best pokemon starter for the johto region games.

I started off with Turtwig, he's pretty good as well.

Actually honestly, yes Chimchar is the best, as it can beat most Gym Types, Turtwig and Piplup are sort of... second time startoffs.

Turtwig is the best.In red versinon bulbasaur, and treko in saphire ruby.Use the grass type.It doesent get affected by poison or confusion.

I think Cyndaquil or Totodile are the best, but I picked Chikorita on Gold

Absolutely nothing.

I can't really judge, but I wouldn't reccoment Piplup because it isn't that strong. I was safer of with Staraptor when I played and it beat every gym except the first and the last one for me.
