help with wii zelda twilight princess

I am trying to get the big key in the forest temple. I know I have to hit the windmills with the boomerang in the order of the Z pattern on the ground to get them to open... I'm doing this, but it still won't open! Can someone please tell me what I'm missing... I'm sure I'm following the pattern, but the gates won't budge.
Please help, this is driving me nuts!

Ok with your booomerang point at the the first windmill it shows to hit on the floor and move your cursor over it and press Z to lock on,lock on to them all IN ORDER.

If this still dosent help try standing nearer to the bridge and make sure your boomerang dosent bang into anything as well,including Link!!
