global operations

hi to everyone!!! im a newbie for pc games and this is the next game i've tried since counter strike. I would like to ask with regards to global operations game. how can i make the hostage follow me that i can save/rescue him? i tried searching for it in the menu of the game settings but i can't seem to find it. i'm still on level 3 (quebec) and i cant move on to the next level simply because i cannot save the hostage or bring him to an extraction point.

please help me.
