I got to watch this moive this past weekend. Being a country boy it is hard for me to understand the "city" life, gangs and having to grow up around it. This movie is good and I hope brings hope to some out there that may be in a similiar situation. Have you seen it ?

Great movie! I showed it to my seventh graders .. we may not be a big inner city school but we do have many of the same issues. The school is a native school on a reservation, drugs, alcohol, absent parents and gangs are very prevalent there. Was interesting to get the kid's perspective on it.

Living in the city I can say I am not that surprised by this movie. Most the stuff that happens in that movie is actually true whether you choose to belive that or not. People getting shot for killing someone else. Gamgmembers doing whatever they want and grafitti is nothing special it happens by my house all the time. I even know some people that are gangmembers personally and they don't act the same as they do at night. There is some pretty rough stuff in this movie and I like it a lot because it is something I can actually relate to. City life I guess is not all the things that it looks like.
