The scoop on Vista looks promising for gaming on the PC. But starting out there is a lot of issues being reports for current games not working with Vista. I think I will wait at least until the first service pak comes out for Vista before I decide on the upgrade.

What do you think about Vista?

I've read about some of the Vista features and it seems like it will be very good. The problem is there does indeed seem to be backward compatibility issues with a lot of software and some hardware.

I'll probably wait to upgrade too, just until the work out all the bugs, and for software/hardware manufacturers to get up to speed with it and develop new drivers n stuff .

But it does look cool :p

My current pc just makes the minimum requirements for vista and ive tried the RC on my friends computer which is very similar to mine. To get anything done we had to turn off most of the nice features. I probably will keep xp and buy a mac for most of what i do.

You should not buy the Vista upgrade packs because of the inevitable bugs and shelling out $200 for something you can barely use anyway because of the strenuous requirments is a waste of money. Tip: Wait until the service pack AT LEAST or wait until you need to buy a new computer. Dell and everyone else's computers will be shipping with vista now.

Windows Vista is pretty much based off of Mac OS 10, borrowing heavily on the look and feel. And there is always the advantage of having far fewer virus/spyware/malware risks with Mac.

Yea I'd wait too...I mean to upgrade to Vista...so that not to worry about the bugs...I'm trying to buy myself a laptop now...and so far I've found Cyberpowerinc computers and alienware--I know that Alienware is a gaming computer but I'm looking for a multimedia computer that just won't slow down as my other computers have done...I'm willing to spend only about $1500 dollars though...can anyone help me?

Isn't the AMD as good as the Core 2 Dual processor...?

I just built a new PC and chose not to get a DX10 compatible card only because I'm not going to be using Vista, and you can only use DX10 on Vista.

I bought a GeForce 7900GS instead, and using eVGA's Step-Up program, I can swap my card for an 8600 GT when it comes out.

I'll be getting Vista probably later this year, September most likely. :3

You built one? Does it work?

Of course it works.

I bought all the parts seperately and then put them together, you won't believe how much cheaper it is to do that. You can build a better computer than one you could buy already built for cheaper!

It was the first time I had done it, it was a little hard but I had help from my friend over the phone.
