What is Final Fantasy?

Hi I was just wondering what is Final Fantasy?

I mean, is it an RPG/Action? What is it?

I remember playing part of one as a kid, when I was VERY young, and I remember swords but thats it.

Just curious.

Yeah, RPG/Action does sound like it. There is lots of fighting, but there is also scenes. Sometimes the scenes can be sad. The first time I saw Aerith die, I cried. For Zack, though. He was gonna get Aerith back. Now, I laugh when I see it, because Aerith's a box.

Yea, thats about all thier is to final fantasy right about now,but apparently ff 13 is going to be like the best one in the whole series but its only for ps3 and come out around March or something in summer (Nz time)but yea theres the magick's and swords and armour,you know the stuff you'lled expect in a good Action/adventure fantasy game. Its a bit like "the witcher" in some ways and "the witcher" is a good game so yeea man your on the right tracks about it, Seeya later

Final Fantasy is a huge chain of Japanese video games released in English that is based around a group that sets off on some journey to save the world. The Current games that I'm aware of are:

Final Fantasy I started in the medieval times, and worked it way all the way up the timeline to Final Fantasy XII, which is in the future. Even though all the games have the same title, none of the characters are the same, unless the game has >> beside it. I'd suggest FFX for a good start.

I know theres a Final Fantasy game for gamecube and plenty others like kingdom hearts and more but this all i can say for now.

Final Fantasy is the final fantastic game.I don't know,it on 2 thousand years old or modern place in final fantasy VIII.

I've played a few Final Fantasy series games - and FF-10 bugs me.... It became too "JAPAN Oriented".

Final Fantasy Twelve was a refreshing return to what Final Fantasy was all about to begin with AND MORE!!!

It seems to me the original game (which I don't think was japanese at all - it was another offshoot of the "BARDS TALE" and "MIGHT and MAGIC" genre of early computer games back in the old DOS DAYS ("DARK AGES" where you had to download from a telephone using a cassette recorder to get "PROGRAMS"(?) from somewhere...)) has gone through a generational advance based on what the latest level of PC and CONSOLE technology was, and at each successive level more was possible.

And whenever you play it over again - the outcome will be different because you can try different things and all of the play in the earlier game you played become harder or easier depending on what you have DONE this time...

(It has enormous amounts of "REPLAYABILITY")

If your CONSOLE and the game disk lasts until the day you die - you might easily play it again ten or twenty years from now and enjoy it like it was brand new.

But the original "SEED IDEA" is more present in Final Fantasy than in many other games.

Might and Magic died a final death when Jon Van Canegham bailed from the 3DO conglomerate who then owned the rights to "New World Computing" after the too early and unfinished release of MM9. MM-10 was rudely hailed as the "Adventures of the Kicking Boot" for various reasons, - but by then JVC was working elsewhere. Texas, if I'm not mistaken...

The hallmark (or "BENCHMARKS") of "FINAL FANTASY" is that it ought to be an extremely long game (so that you get more "BANG FOR THE BUCK"), consistently interesting, challenging, extend the abilities of whatever platform it is played on, gather a "FAN FOLLOWING" by remaining consistent to internal stories from earlier games (IT DOES DO THAT! Ridden a CHOCOBO lately??? ) and steadily improve by using the latest breaking media and computer abilities.

(If you think it takes too long to play you have COMPLETELY missed the whole point)

In a way - I suppose it is a techno-cult. Liesure suit Larry, and all of that noise...

FINAL FANTASY is like ROCK AND ROLL: It lives on!

It is one of the few game series that remains true to it's original RPG refinement purposes!

PS: More points concerning it may occur to me as I go along. For example:
I wonder what the fastest way to gain lisences of high value is?

Many will disagree on what those really are, and the order they should be gotten in...

Lisence point saving in the early game is another notion...
