I need help - Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion...

I went through a couple other factions (Dark Brotherhood and Theives guild... Part of the main quest and most of the freeform quests) but I just decided to join the Mages Guild and go through that one now. I got all of my recommendations, the last of which being Chorrol.

I got a journal entry that told me to go and talk to Raminus Polus at the Arcane University, which I went and did. He talked to me, gave me my Apprentice's robe, and told me to try it on. As soon as i put it on, I talked to him and all he said was, "You should be out aquiring a mage's staff for yourself... How can I help?" and it gave me the menu.

Something's missing though... I didn't get the journal entry. I've gone back to save spots earlier in the game and run through the previous recommendation 3 times and he hasn't ever given me the stupid quest!!! I don't understand...

Is there any way that I can get it? For some reason, my computer just won't give me the entry and I don't know why...

the thing about the mages guild is it dosent give you menuse for some quest and after you finish the quest. and you are not missing anything they dont give you rewards for finishing quest and if you ar not a mage then it is worthless what they give you.

Well you could always start a new game or just change some things in the games data mainframe??..........What the hell am i talkin about?I dont even know how to hack a folder properly without my brothers help
