So, I wrote this for jessiecoolsmile's poetry competition, but I kept going past 12 lines. Anyways, I'm tentatively calling this "Mine". I don't know why, just seems fitting to me. But this one, like many of my poems, started off pretty ambiguous, and I find a more specific meaning the more a write. But I couldn't really narrow it down on this one, so if you want, I'd like you to tell me what YOU think it's about. I showed it to some friends, and one said she thought it was a tragic accident, another thought it was intentional murder. So, without further ado, here it is. (Btw, I know ungiven isn't a word, but that's a writer's job, innovate

)
Mine
Sleep, my fallen angel
Sleep, forever in a warm embrace
Leave your memories there
Leave behind your grim fate
A rose for your love
A dusk for the dead
A song for her life
A bounty for his head
Don't say you're sorry,
You just don't want this on your mind
Weep, my scarred love
Weep, pray the tears wash away the lies
Let light fall on my casket
Let the dead hear your cries
An amaranth for your love
Never fall, never fade
An eternity for your sorrows
A farewell never bade
Don't apologize,
You just don't want to die
And so the bloodstains dry
And the black fades to grey
My roses wilt and fade
For the child fallen astray
Not forgotten, not forgiven
Not enough left to feel forsaken
Just a broken heart, empty eyes
And a motive ungiven
